Hey Webflailers - it’s Jack.

Finally back in cold, hard England. I'm hibernating with a sports direct mug of tea and a digestive. What better time to reflect on 2023, and sort shit out before 2024 kicks off, eh? Some things I'll be cracking on with include:

  • Webflail YouTube content
  • Webflail bookclub
  • Webflail competitions,
  • Webflail spring event

I need to write a full article on 2023 in review but also what's coming in more detail but essentially, Webflail is putting it's big boy pants on for 2024.

Anyway, on to today's Roundup.

  • How to actually launch that side project in 2024
  • Interview with Keith Edwards
  • 3 Jobs for Webflowers
  • 3 Inspo Websites

Howay the lads. Let's dive, duck, dip and dodge.

How to actually launch that side project in 2024

So, you've bought 10 domains in 2023 and in 2024, you're going to be hit with that "do you want to renew your 1 year domain renewal," message.

You're going to feel a pang of regret you didn't just go "Fuck it - let's see if this idea has got legs," and going to end that renewal so that the domain goes back on the market for another poor dreamer to think they are going to launch "the next uber for dogs."

Or are you going to end that renewal? Because maybe, with a short, sharp burst of focus, short timeline and lack of attachment to the outcome, you might just get somewhere...

Ep 68 | How To Find Your Place In The Webflow Community | With Keith Armstrong

He is the founder of Flowsparrow, a subscription based Webflow service.

He’s been involved with Flowparty, I’ve heard him share wisdom on Twitter Lives, he had a newsletter for a while called the div dive - he’s keen to help others is what I’ve seen and that goes a long way. Not only that, he’s just started Remote Supply - a clothing brand with a 90s feel.

But naturally, no road is perfectly straight!

The fails that we’ll discuss today are:

1. Not letting go of control and trusting team members

2. Subscription VS. Project Based

3. Burnout & Side Projects

3 Inspo Websites

Stripe Sessions

Come on Stripe. This is filthy. Love the elements fitting the grid but also the flowing breaking of the grid like a technicolored obelisk that cannae be contained.

Eurecah

Beautifully balanced contrasts throughout this website - serif vs sans-serfif, black vs white, animated vs static all with tonnes of breathing room. Eurecah basically.

Pebble

The most high tech pebble I've ever seen but still with rounded corners. Website captures the techy feel but also a respect to smooth, everchanging shapes of nature. I like it.
