Jack

Freelancer

Hey Webflailers - it’s Jack.

Imagine trying to punch a ghost. Jasper would be untouchable ya know? Dipping and weaving like Canelo + you can't see him.

Despite this, it always amazes me when talking to Webflow freelancers how little they know who they freelance for. How the hell do you reckon you will hit a target you can't see? 👻

Today:

  • Learning To Embrace Imposter Syndrome
  • Episode 86 | 3 key lessons learnt leading teams at Webflow, Twitter and Cloudflare | with Jessica Rosenberg
  • Webflow London Meetup talks
  • 3 Inspo sites
  • 3 Webflow jobs

Let the mayonnaise meet the tuna.

Is that horizontal scroll layout helping conversions? 🙃

The client wants to implement a horizontal scroll since they saw a photography website with it and they want it for their e-commerce site which sells foot warmers for dogs.

"Dammit - that's going to massively affect conversions," you think. "If only there was a quick and easy way to test this using a tool specifically designed for Webflow websites that doesn't cost the world."

Then you find Optibase 🔥

  • A/B Test Your Webflow Site: Measure how effective colour choices, design elements, copy choices, layouts and more on your webflow sites
  • Webflow London Meetup Recordings - 4 sets of speakers now on YouTube!
  • No flickering: No flickering that can mess up your website’s UX
  • Performance: Test without impacting your website’s performance
  • Audience segmentation: Geolocation and screen size

Learning To Embrace Imposter Syndrome

You know when you have a conversation that shakes you to your core.

Like a mini Vesuvius in your belly.

Imposter imposter syndrome or imposter syndrome?

You might think you know what imposter syndrome is but in Jess Rosenberg's opinion, there are two very distinct types for her - monkey brain imposter syndrome and imposter imposter syndrome. What is this gobbledygook of an article you're reading?!

Trust me - it will make sense when we dive in.

Ep 86 | 3 key lessons learnt leading teams at Webflow, Twitter and Cloudflare | with Jessica Rosenberg

Today my guest is Jess Rosenberg. Jess is an obscenely talented individual.

Jess is a design & creative leader, designer, manager, ideas person with 18+ years of experience helping brands tell their stories in differentiated and breakthrough ways.

You may know her because she was the director of Brand Design & Creative at Webflow - she scaled Brand Studio team from 8 to 18 in under two years.

She’s worked at Twitter, Cloudflare, Mural, Webflow and her ideas and leadership have influenced many tools and products you use today which is wild.

And she’s just launched a podcast called Ladies Who Create with Liz Meyer which is excellent with guests such as Grace Walker, Jessica Strelioff & Danielle LaRoy and Steph Jeong

Basically, she’s a big deal.

The failures we discuss are:

1) Desiring to be liked by everyone as a manager early on

2) Imposter syndrome

3) Being hands on in the work

3 Inspo Websites

Democracia

Simple but incredibly effective. A limited colour palette but holy spamoney these colours pack a punch. The small hand drawn elements also really adds to the fiery copy where the words really matter - a corner stone of democracy being free speech. Illegal to have a website this good though oi oi.

Just Salad

Paper Tiger Agency don't miss. Sexy, bold, fun, quirky but also clean and clear. But this company does more than just lettuce in their salads so I'm glad it's not a lazy pastiche of natural colours. This website hits you in the face.

Yesterday

Get lost in yesterday with this spicy website - minimal colour palette which lets the images do the talking. Love the copy and subtle animation on this one.
